NDIS FAQs

NDIA is National Disability Insurance Agency. It is a government agency responsible for implementing and governing National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

NDIS is National Disability Insurance Scheme. It is a government initiative that works for providing necessary care and support to the people with disabilities and their families. The NDIS model is designed to fund the costs associated with the people with disability to perform their routine activities as well as the care and support services they need.

NDIS funding is the financial aid provided by the NDIS to the people eligible for the scheme. People eligible for the scheme or NDIS participants can utilize the funding as per their requirements and needs. 

To be eligible for NDIS one must:

• have a permanent and significant disability or a developmental delay
• be an Australian citizen, or hold a permanent visa or a Protected Special Category visa
• be under 65 years of age
• need support from a person or equipment to do everyday activities

The person with disability who fulfils all NDIS eligibility conditions and has received approval from NDIA to be eligible for NDIS funding is known as NDIS participant.

NDIS providers are the authorised individuals or organisations that provide care and support services or assistance equipments to the NDIS participants.
